Medication/Accidents
It is important that the school has an emergency contact number for each child so that parents can be contacted if the need arises.
If a child becomes ill during the day, parents are contacted immediately. The teacher or Learning Support Assistant (LSA) will take care of the child until the parents get in touch with the school.
On occasions a child may have to take medication whilst at school. It is requested that medicine is brought to the school office and an adult completes a medication from. Medication must not be kept in a child’s bag. The school cannot administer any medication unless prescribed by a doctor.
We ask that if your child has a contagious illness that you contact the school so that we are fully aware of the situation. If your child has sickness or diarrhoea we ask that you keep them away from school for 48 hours after the last bout of illness to ensure that we avoid infecting others.
If your child has a minor accident at school this will be entered into the school accident book and a letter is sent home to explain the injury. First aid and reassurance will be given at school by one of out first aiders. If we believe that your child needs further comforting by a parent we will contact you.
If there is a more serious incident we have a clear procedure that all staff follow to ensure the safety of your child.
