Admissions

Admission to Nursery

The nursery operates on a session basis and children attend for either five mornings or five afternoons each week. Children normally enter the nursery in the term they become four but, if there are vacancies, your child may be offered a place at a slightly younger age. Children's names can be placed on a pre-registration waiting list at any age, although this does not guarantee a place.

Certain criteria are used to determine admission if the nursery is over-subscribed but, in practice, it is normally possible to offer a place to all applicants. Further details can be found in the School prospectus or by calling the School.

Admission to School

Children are normally admitted to the school at the start of the term in which they have their fifth birthday and are termed 'Rising Fives'. The school has three intakes into the Reception year with all children attending on a full time basis. The LEA cannot assume a parent's preference for a local school and set aside a place for your child. Your preference has to be in writing within a set timeframe. To help you with this, the LEA produces an annual booklet containing much of the information you will need to make your choice.

Within the Reception and Key Stage 1 classes we have a limit of 30 per class. This means that we cannot guarantee your child a place at our school if we are full. The County Admissions Team (tel: 01296-393250) maintains a waiting list for the school should you wish your child to attend when a vacancy becomes available. The school Secretary may also have information to help you.

All new parents and children are welcome to visit the school. An appointment should be made so that a meeting can be arranged along with a tour of the school. Please telephone the school Secretary on 01494 872160. Public open days are arranged in the Autumn term, on an annual basis, when you are most welcome to see the school 'in action'.
