PROPOSED INTEGRATION OF CSG INFANT AND JUNIOR SCHOOLS

A JOINT ANNOUNCEMENT FROM THE CHAIR OF GOVERNORS AT CHALFONT ST GILES INFANT AND JUNIOR SCHOOLS

The Governing Bodies of the Infant and Junior Schools have collectively been exploring ways in which we can jointly provide an integrated primary education for the children of our village. As a first step towards this, we are very pleased to announce that Mrs Elen Peal will be taking on the leadership of both schools from September 2010, as Acting Head of the Junior School in addition to her current role as Headteacher of the Infant School. We will be ensuring that she is fully supported by all of the staff and both governing bodies in order to maximise the benefits of the arrangement without compromising standards at either school.

Once the governing bodies have determined the best way forward for both schools, any proposals will be subject to public consultation. Ultimately, our preferred option is to work towards fully uniting them under Mrs Peal’s leadership to create an integrated primary school for Chalfont St Giles; however we will need to fully and properly consider all options and their implications and this will take time.

While this consultation takes place, the two schools will remain separate entities, although jointly led and managed. We will establish a shared development plan to ensure that our children receive continuity of the highest standards of education from Nursery through to year 6, and we will also work to integrate as many of the schools’ management functions as appropriate.

Mrs Peal has proved to be an inspiring and motivational leader, who has the complete confidence of both governing bodies and sets of staff. She has extensive experience of both Junior and Infant Schools, and has been the Headteacher at the Infant School for four years.

Our unanimous decision to work towards uniting the two schools is an exciting opportunity to offer continuity of the highest standards of education which our children deserve and we are committed to providing. We hope that you will share our enthusiasm for this vision, and we look forward to working in partnership with you to achieve it.

OFSTED HONOURS CHALFONT ST GILES INFANT SCHOOL AND NURSERY

Chalfont St Giles Infant School and Nursery has been honoured by Ofsted in a celebratory event recognising outstanding schools in England.
Christine Gilbert, Her Majesty’s Chief Inspector of Education, Children’s Services and Skills, has praised our school alongside top schools in the annual list of outstanding providers published by Ofsted.
Schools on the list provide an excellent quality of education across the full range of their work and attain high levels of student achievement across an often diverse and complex range of circumstances.
Hosting the celebration, Ofsted’s Chief Inspector recognised the determination, ambition and commitment it takes to become an outstanding school.

The Chief Inspector said, "I wholeheartedly congratulate the Head teachers, staff, governors and students of all outstanding schools on their success and hard work in delivering such an excellent standard of education. Outstanding schools have leaders of vision, courage and conviction, and the ability to create and inspire their staff, their students and the communities they serve. I hope that these outstanding schools are a beacon to others; an example of what can be achieved with aspiration and determination.”
