Start of the day
The school day begins at 8.55am when the school bell rings. The children line up at their designated coloured spot on the playground and then walk into school with their teacher. The children are encouraged to enter the school building on their own and take responsibility for putting away their belongings.
Lunchtime
The children eat their lunch in the Memorial Hall or in the Shakman field in the summer months and are cared for by our Midday Supervisors. There are two sittings, the first is for the Reception and Year 1 children and the second is for Year 2 children. In the summer term, when the Reception classes are full, one Year 1 class eat in the second sitting.
Collective worship and assemblies
The children take part in collective worship daily. On Wednesdays we have a Midday Supervisor assembly. Children who have behaved especially well at lunchtime receive a certificate and are then able to sit on the special table for their lunch on Thursday. On Fridays, we have a celebration assembly. Two children from each class are recognised for a special achievement that week and are given a smiley badge to wear for the following week. Children who have taken part in activities outside of school are able to bring their awards in to be presented in this assembly. Class assemblies, performed in front of their parents or carers, also generally take place on Friday.
Home time
At the end of the day each class is dismissed by their teacher at a designated place. No child is allowed to leave until their class teacher has seen their parent or carer.
