PE

Chalfont St. Giles Infant School and Nursery’s physical education programme contributes to the overall education of the children by helping them to lead full and active lives through participation in purposeful physical activities.

Playtime in PEWe aim to develop pupils:

  • Knowledge and understanding of fitness and health, and the importance of leading a healthy and active lifestyle.
  • Ability to evaluate and improve their own and others’ performance.
  • Ability to acquire and develop new skills within various activity areas.

Movement lessonsWe are committed to the raising of standards in teaching and learning in PE and Sport by:

  • Motivating and encouraging students to achieve their full potential by working individually and cooperatively with others.
  • Demonstrating high expectations of all students.
  • Promoting positive relationships with others.
  • Encouraging problem solving skills.
  • Promoting physical competence and support physical development.
  • Promoting the appreciation of skilful, creative and aesthetic performance.
  • Encouraging students to take part in the extra-curricular clubs offered.

We are active members of the local Schools Sport Partnership. This a family of local schools with a co-ordinator based at Chalfont’s Community College. The family share quality training for staff and pupils and organise extra-curricular activities such as the annual PE festival.
