Dear Parents/Friends/Guardians 29th September
2005
We have all had an
exciting 2 weeks- Bob Buckle came into work with the children singing and
playing fun music on his banjo. We have started our topic work and there are
lots of lovely displays appearing around the school. The staff
have held reading, maths and year group
meetings to ensure that you have all the information you require at the
beginning of the year. If you have missed any of these meetings and would like
the information please leave your name and the information you require at the
office and I will ensure that you receive it.
Admission to
Reception 2007/2008
Parents of children reaching the
age of 5 between 1st September 2007 and 31st August 2008
need to complete and return an admissions form to Bucks County Council by 17th
November 2006. Booklets and forms are available from the
office.
Please note that a child
attending our Nursery is not automatically entitled to a place at the school
and the Infant School has no control or influence over the admissions
process. You must complete and return
the form to
Year 2 applications for a Year 3 place
All year 2 children will have taken home
the Bucks County Council “Guide for Parents” and an application form to apply
for a Year 3 place. You need to return
your form, and any other relevant documentation, in a sealed envelope clearly
named to the School
As with Reception
admissions, it is your responsibility to complete and return the relevant forms
to ensure Admissions consider your application.
Absences
Some Infant School parents are still
returning their children to school without completing a written explanation of
the absence. Please visit the office and
fill in an absence form as soon as your child returns to school. Thank you to all those parents who have been
taking the trouble to do this.
Unexplained absences are noted as such on the official register and are unauthorised until an explanation is provided.
Year 2 pick up
Please would all year 2 parents ensure that
they do not take their child from the wet weather shelter before Mr Jackson or Mrs Mannion have said that they can go and have seen the child
leave with a responsible adult. We would not like to lose anyone at this busy
time of the day. If you wish another parent or relative to be able to pick up
your child, you should also complete a form giving permission for them to do so
(as attached to the last newsletter).
Thank you for your understanding.
Access to the
School
As you are aware, you should talk to the
office staff if you wish to enter the school.
Please don’t enter when someone else is going in or out, without
speaking to the office staff.
Classes
We mixed up Year 1 and Year 2 LSA names in
the last newsletter. Mrs
Hartridge is, of course, supporting Year 2, whilst Mrs Brittain and Mrs Swerling support Year 1.
Trolleys
We want to make the most of our LSA support
and need them to work with pupils in the last session of the day. This means
that we need a parent (or few) who is happy to take the trolleys out into the
playground, where the parents/children can collect their lunch boxes at the end
of the day. If you can help, please come in and tell the staff in the office.
Collection of
objects
We are making collections of objects that
will help with our phonic teaching. Each newsletter I will let you know which letters
we are collecting for and then your children can donate items to help us i.e.
sound ‘a’ –bring in a plastic apple for our collection. By the end of the year
we hope to have a storage unit full of objects which we can use for games with
small groups and whole classes. THIS WEEK WE ARE COLLECTING- S, A and T
objects. (This fits in with the letter order they are taught in the Foundation
Stage.)
Drawstring Bags
Mrs Barnett says a BIG THANK YOU
for all the bags she has received so far. A couple of parents have said they
can make bags so if you have any spare fabric please let Mrs
Barnett have it so she can pass it on.
Book Week
Next week is our annual book week and we
will be working on lots of lovely and exciting activites
based around authors, poems and books.
Nursery: “Hello Lulu”, Caroline Uff
Sapphire: “Funny Bones”, The
Alhbergs
Year 1: “The Tunnel”, Anthony Browne
Year 2: Poetry from Spike Milligan and

the shelf opposite the office.

distributed next week and will have its own deadline.
There will be another leaflet distribution in

Wycombe
Wanderers/Premier Sports After School Clubs
As mentioned in the last newsletter, please
note that it is the parents’ responsibility to ensure that children are given
help to get changed and taken out to be registered. If you are unable to do this yourself, please
nominate another parent to do this for you. Thank you for your co-operation.
Home/School
Agreement
Parents and children in years 1 and 2 need
to have completed and returned the Home-School agreement. Forms have been flooding into the office but
some are still outstanding. If you
haven’t returned your form, please do so.
Open Day
The Infant School & Nursery will be
open to all on Thursday 5th October from 9.15am to 2pm, when we are
holding an Open Day. This will be of
particular interest to parents of children applying for a place for their child
in 2007/2008 (as explained below).
Anyone is welcome to visit, so please spread the word.
