Dear Parents/Friends/Guardians                        22nd April 2005

Welcome back after the Easter break, I hope everyone has had a good rest and is looking forward to an exciting term!

Butterflies

Just a reminder that we will again be collecting 2ps and 1ps for our butterfly pupae this year. Last year it was very successful and the children really enjoyed watching the pupae develop and grow in the pavilions. The jars will be ready for the coins next week and we will be watching to see which class can collect the most!

Red Nose Day

Thank you to everyone who participated in dressing up for red nose day – we raised £277.21 so well done to you all!

Y2 Leavers party

Mrs Bates has kindly offered to organise the Y2 leavers’ party on the last day of term. She is looking for some helpers to assist her, so if you would like to help please see her in the playground.

Trishul Indian dance

The children really enjoyed the Indian dance troupe that visited last week. They performed some exciting colourful dances and it was very inspiring for the children.

Girlguiding/Brownies

We have been asked to include this in our newsletter:-

Girlguiding Chalfont St Giles is looking for a new Brown Owl to take over the running of the 1st CSG Brownies pack. Other adult volunteers are also needed. This is a great opportunity to have some fun and make a big difference to the children. Full training is provided. If you are interested please contact Sue England, District Commissioner (01494 871378) or email spendland@ntlworld.com

Protection from the sun

Hopefully, as this term progresses we will be seeing a bit more of the sun! Please consider the points below in order to protect your child from the sun.

  • Please provide your child with a sun hat, which if possible can be left in school for everyday use. Please make sure the hat is labelled clearly with your child’s name. (Caps and Legionnaire hats can be purchased from the school)
  • Protect your child with sun cream before they come to school. Government legislation does not permit teaching or non-teaching staff to apply sun cream, so we would appreciate your assistance. Children should not bring sun cream with them to school. If applied before school this is sufficient to cover them for the 2 hours they spend outside.

Florence Nightingale

A reminder for all Y2 children that there will be a Florence Nightingale Dance and Drama workshop on Wednesday 27th April.

SCHOOL UNIFORM - A Quick Reminder

Please order by completing the form available from the school office, ensuring that you give your child's name and class details.  Payment is needed with the order.  Cheques should be made payable to CSG Infant School & Nursery PTA.  Please note that as the accounts are done monthly, if you place an order at the beginning of a month it may take up to 5/6 weeks before a cheque is cleared through your bank account.

Orders are usually collected from the school office after drop-off on Friday morning and should be ready by Friday pick-up.  In order to avoid tying up lots of money we try to maintain minimum stock levels.

Occasionally, due to unprecedented demand, the item you require may need to be ordered and there can be a delay of up to 10 working days, you will be informed if this is the case.

Many thanks, Debra Olleveant
