Information and Communications Technology (ICT)Computers help to support all aspects of the curriculum. The school is well resourced having a state-of-the-art ICT room where whole class teaching takes place. The school's hardware and software is constantly being upgraded. PCs and printers are also located in all the classrooms. Learning is centred around information handling, storage and retrieval. The ICT suite is connected to the Internet. We have an Internet Security Policy that has to be signed by all parents on entering the school. HumanitiesHistory and geography are taught within topics based on studies of people and their environment. Geography is centred upon such skills as learning to use maps, diagrams, atlases and globes. Geographical areas are studied ranging from the local area to the wider world. Geographical themes such as weather, population, landforms and pollution are also studied. History is studied through integrated topics based on the knowledge of historical facts and the use of the extensive range of artefacts in the school's museum. Art and CraftArt and craft play a very important role in children's educational development. Children are encouraged to express their ideas using a variety of media including paint, crayon and clay. The children's artwork is displayed throughout the school. This involvement in the planning and decoration of their environment helps them relate to and have pride in it. Displays of the children's work are of a very high standard, visually stimulating and informative. Physical Education and SportThe school ensures the continuity and progression of the children's gymnastic, indoor and outdoor games, sport and dance skills. A comprehensive range of PE equipment is available for the children's use. A privately run short tennis club meets on Tuesdays and Fridays for interested children from Reception through to Year 2. The school also has an active link with Wycombe Football Club. During lunch times the children have access to playground equipment, including skipping ropes and balls. |
